Focus on the future: GreenTech and Industry 4.0 at the newPark

The newPark is the future area for the housing of new industry in North Rhine-Westphalia. The focus here is on two industries: the booming GreenTech industry with its growth-oriented, medium-scaled companies and the networked, digital production of Industry 4.0.

With this profile, the newPark will create up to 9,000 high-quality jobs in knowledge-based, research-intensive and future-oriented industries. The newPark will be home to companies previously underrepresented in the Ruhrand in the Emscher-Lippe Region. At the same time, the newPark will actively contribute to a positive change in the region’s qualification requirements (“skill shift”) through its targeted industry mix. It will thus play an important part in the social transformation of the Ruhr region – above all as a valuable counterbalance to the currently booming logistics industry, which primarily has a need for relatively low-skilled workers.

With the newPark, the cities in the north of the Ruhr Conurbation are further developing their economic structure and thus making themselves less vulnerable to economic fluctuations and crises.

With its focus on Industry 4.0, the newPark is picking up the momentum of digitisation and promoting the development of the Emscher-Lippe Smart Region.
